E-Levi is not compulsory; if you don't want to pay, don't do MOMO!!! Carlos Ahenkorah

Speaking exclusively to Joy Fm's parlementary correspondent Kwesi Packer Wilson, the Tema west MP states that E-Levi is not compulsory; if you don't want to pay, don't do MOMO!!!

The MP for Tema west, Karlos Ahenkorah is again in the news. This time, to insult the intelligence of Ghanaians. While intelligent people are here deliberating on the merits or otherwise of the opportunistic E-Levi, Mr. Ahenkorah is busy making silly and unwarranted comments.

During the 2020 election of the speaker of parlement, the law maker exhibited symptoms of a desease otherwise known as xylophagia which makes people chew papers. Some would argue that he is not suffering from xylophagia but rather a one time chewing which should not be misconstrued to be a desease. Whatever the case may be, we're Thorn between two possibilities, either he is sick and needs medical attention or he is overly undisciplined both of which do not paint a good picture of him.

It Should also be recalled that the same law maker was diagnosed of COVID-19 In 2020 and yet goes to inspect registration centers prior to the 2020 general elections. He did so, knowing that he was breaking the rules, he did so when we did not have a good understanding of the virus, he did so because he felt he was above the law, and he did so because he didn't care about the lives of others. But if he was wrong, what happened to him??? NOTHING!!! and maybe he was right because he was not interdicted, he was not cautioned and he was not arranged before court. Rather, we saw party people praising him and justifying his actions including the nonsense that "he did not come into contact with anybody"

Is it only his government that is supporting and shielding him? clearly not, because the people whose lives he put in danger saw a leader in him and had voted him into power giving him yet another four year term. To these same constituents he says E-Levi is not compulsory; if you don't want to pay, don't do MOMO!!! next time think before you vote!!! Someone wants to give you a desease and your turn around and vote him into power??? What curse is that!!!

But, what is wrong with what he said???

First of all, We have a budget at hand and we needed to deleberate on what stays and what goes out of it. At least for the purposes of economic policy going into 2022. We are in a democracy and nothing happens without deliberations and consultation. So it is important that we discussed the E-Levi.

Secondly, A good number of Ghanaians are against this E-Levi and you don't tell them "E-Levi is not compulsory; if you don't want to pay, don't do MOMO!!!" if their opinions don't matter to the law maker, then he has no business being in the house. He is there to represent people, so if he won't listen to what they're saying then he shouldn't be there. I was shocked that he won his constituency.

Finally, he has no right to dictate to anyone on the use of MOMO. Technology and adoption to same is free to air. How can you suggest that people stop using MOMO because you've taken an entrenched position to impose this opportunistic E-Levi.

What should we do about Carlos Ahenkorah???

NOTHING!!!

He should be ignored. Paying attention to his noise would only distort constructive argument and waste precious time. Ghanaians have become enlightened and more open minded. Statements such as these no longer have a place in our nation discussions.
